Often confused with compostable products, biodegradable products are products that will broken down by micro-organisms over time.
However unlike compostable products, biodegradable products vary in their biodegradation rate. For example - paper takes approximately 2-5 months to biodegrade, where as tree leaves can take approximately 1 year.
With the vast consumption rate of disposables it is key that these products that are advertised as biodegradable have as short a biodegrade rate as possible.
